Uses of Three-way ball valves
A Three
Way Ball Valve is a form of quarter-turn valve that
controls flow through a hollow, perforated, and pivoting Ball. It is
open when the ball's hole is parallel to the flow and locked when the valve
handle is pivoted 90 degrees.
While the valve is open, the handle is flat in line
with the flow, and when it is closed, it is perpendicular to it, allowing for
simple visual confirmation of the valve's status.
What Are
3-Way Ball Valves?
Dwyer Instruments has a wide selection of 3-way ball
valves in a range of colors, including brass, stainless steel, and rubber.
We also provide a variety of end connections, such as NPT (National Pipe
Tapered threads), tri-clamp, flanged, and plug.
A multi-port valve, also known as a 3-way ball valve,
has three ports or holes, one of which is shared by the other two. This third
port allows the fluid to flow in a different direction, allowing the valve to
have one inlet and two ports, or two inlets and one outlet. They often combine
flow shut-off and path control in a single valve body, making them convenient
and cost-effective.
How does it work?
The ball of the valve is drilled into a "T"
or a "L" shape. The “T” ports, also known as mixing style valves, are
used to guide liquid to various outlets. The flow would enter through two ports
before exiting through a single outlet. Diverting style valves have “L” ports
that are used to pull media from various outlets.
What are 3-way valves
used for?
3-way ball valves have greater flexibility than a
conventional 2-way valve, allowing them to control movement in more complicated
conditions. This kind of valve is often used for the following applications:
·
Cut-off or shut-off of the river
·
Blocking one direction of flow while
allowing another to continue
·
Flow from two separate positions is
combined or mixed.
·
Dividing liquid from a single location
into two outgoing locations by diverting discharge from one location to another
·
Flow between two outgoing positions
alternates.
For precise positioning, Dwyer's 3-way ball valves can
be configured with pneumatic or electric actuators. Our Series SN solenoid
valves can also be used to electrically adjust the air supply pressure between
the air supply ports and limit switches for remote control.
